10th Sitting of the European Integration Committee
At the sitting held on 22 November 2024, the members of the European Integration Committee were presented the European Commission 2024 Annual Report.
The Annual Report was presented by Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret, Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia. He noted that EU enlargement has gained a new momentum, referring to the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans for further acceleration of the process of accession to the Union. He said that the Report notes a clear set of reforms, however in the case of Serbia, the pace of the reforms has slowed down. He emphasised that the National Assembly plays a key role in supporting the Government’s reform efforts and oversight.
Minister of European Integration, Prof. Dr Tanja Miscevic pointed out that Serbia will continue to implement the measures and recommendations of the European Commission and that the Ministry is currently working on eight measures to speed up integration process reforms. She said that, among other things, the Government is currently dealing with the revision of the electoral roll, the new composition of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, as well as the adoption of the EU financial aid package, which the Government approved.
In the continuation of the sitting, Miscevic informed the members of the Committee about the Conclusion on the adoption of the National Programme for Adoption of the Acquis Communautaire (NPAA) for the period 2024 to 2027, adopted by the Government at the session held on 13 June 2024. The Minister pointed out that the Programme contains plans for harmonising legislation with the EU acquis and establishing appropriate administrative capacities for the implementation of the harmonised legislation.
The Committee went on to select a delegation to take part in the interparliamentary committee meeting the on “The situation of the Rule of Law in the EU” organised by the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), to be held on 12 December 2024 in the European Parliament, Brussels. The delegation is to comprise Elvira Kovacs, Milan Radin, Ana Miljnic and D Tijana Peric Diligenski.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Elvira Kovacs, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Robert Kozma, Dubravka Filipovski, Stanislava Janosevic, Goran Milic, Sanja Dzajic, Zivota Starcevic, Dunja Simonovic Bratic, Branislav Josifovic, Dr Aleksandra Tomic and Ana Miljanic.
