13th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 30 March 2021, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government considered the Bill amending the Law on Judges, submitted by MPs Djordje Komlenski, Marijan Risticevic, Ana Karadzic and Bojan Torbica, in principle and detail.

MP Djordje Komlenski, one of the submitters, explained that the reason to amend the Law stems from the need to improve the operation and align the position of misdemeanor court judges with the judges serving in courts of general and special competencies. The funds needed for the implementation of this Law, 378,689,400.00 RSD, will be allocated from the Republic of Serbia 2020 Budget Law.

The Government had submitted three amendments to the Bill and the Committee voted on it both in principle and in detail and proposed that the National Assembly adopt it.

The Committee went on to formulate the Proposal of the Decision on the election of members of the Commission for the Control of the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, voting for the following composition: Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, member of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Dejan Kesar, member of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Dubravka Kralj, member of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Dr Muamer Bacevac, Chairman of the of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality, and Danijela Vujicic, member of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Vladimir Djukanovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Sanja Lakic, Dániel Gyivánovity, Vesna Krisanovic, Toma Fila, Djordje Komlenski, Velibor Milojicic, Djordje Dabic, Nenad Baros, Nebojsa Pavlovic and Jelena Zaric Kovacevic.
