16th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee
At the sitting held on 17 May 2021, the Culture and Information Committee considered in principle the Bill on Renewal of Cultural-Historic Heritage and Development Incentives in Sremski Karlovci, submitted by the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in principle.
The Bill was presented by the President of the Provincial Government Igor Mirovic who said that 30 years have passed since the adoption of the Law on Renewal of Cultural-Historic Heritage and Development Incentives in Sremski Karlovci and the bases for said renewal need to be regulated in accordance with systemic laws in the field of culture, cultural goods, planning, construction and environmental protection. This Bill determines the general conditions for the renewal of cultural and historical heritage and for encouraging development on the territory of the municipality of Sremski Karlovci, as well as other issues of importance for the renewal of cultural and historical heritage and encouragement of the development of Sremski Karlovci. Renewal of the cultural and historical heritage of Sremski Karlovci, in terms of this Bill, covers research, rehabilitation, conservation, restoration, revitalisation, presentation and use of cultural and historical heritage, followed by protection, management and improvement of natural resources and the environment, utilities viz. reconstruction and construction of supporting infrastructure, aimed at the sustainable development of the local community. Mirovic said that the Bill also envisages the formation of a Committee for the Reconstruction and Development of Sremski Karlovci, to be headed by the relevant minister, with the President of the Provincial Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina as the deputy.
Following a discussion, the Committee accepted the Bill in principle.
The Committee members went on to submit an amendment to the Bill on Renewal of Cultural-Historic Heritage and Development Incentives in Sremski Karlovci.
