18th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 25 October 2021, the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the Bill amending the Republic of Serbia 2021 Budget Law, Section 24 - Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, submitted by the Government.

Senad Mahmutovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, said that the proposed budget rebalance allocates 60 billion 271 million RSD for the Ministry which is an increase of one billion 23 million RSD compared to current appropriations and almost two billion RSD compared to the April rebalance. The bulk of it goes to subsidies, direct payments to farmers and rural development support, he said. Mahmutovic thanked the Committee members for their considerable contributions to making sure the funds secured for agriculture are increased.

Dragana Djordjevic of the Ministry of Finance presented the proposed budget rebalance to the Committee members saying that it allocated 4.71% of the overall tax revenue to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

In the course of the ensuing debate the Committee members opined that it would have been better if 5% were allocated to agriculture, as stipulated by law, so that all the debts owed to farmers could be paid sooner.

The Committee members went on to accept the Bill amending the Republic of Serbia 2021 Budget Law, Section 24 - Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Momir Stojilkovic, Olja Petrovic, Velibor Stanojlovic, Nandor Kiss, Nenad Filipovic, Milija Miletic, Stanislava Janosevic, Sonja Todorovic, Veroljub Matic, Tijana Davidovac, Haji Milorad Stosic and Zarko Bogatinovic.
