34th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee
At the sitting held on 21 December, the members of the Culture and Information Committee considered in detail the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Electronic Media, and in principle the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Service Media and the Bill amending the Law on Temporary Regulation of Payment of Fees for the Public Service Media.
The Government and the Committee members proposed that the National Assembly reject the one amendment submitted to Article 1 of the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Electronic Media.
The Ministry representative then presented the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Service Media, saying that according to the Agreement concerning the improvement of electoral conditions concluded in the National Assembly between the participants of the Inter-Party Dialogue conducted under the auspices of the National Assembly, the public media is obliged to act in accordance with the principles of balance and impartiality in the presentation of political parties in its regular programme.
The Committee members proposed, by majority vote, that the National Assembly accept the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Service Media in principle.
Trifunovic also presented the Bill amending the Law on Temporary Regulation of Payment of Fees for the Public Service Media, after which the Committee members proposed that the National Assembly accept it in principle.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Sandra Bozic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Zoran Tomic, Zeljko Tomic, Vuk Mircetic, Jovan Kolundzija, Snezana Paunovic, Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Lav-Grigorije Pajkic, Dunja Bratic Simonovic, Milica Obradovic, Aleksandar Jovanovic, Aleksandar Cotric, Milos Terzic and Ivana Popovic.
