Fourth Sitting of the Committee on the Rights of the Child
At the sitting held on 21 June 2021, the Committee on the Rights of the Child considered the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Financial Support to Families with Children.
The Bill was presented by Assistant Minister of Family Welfare and Demography Aleksandra Camagic.
Committee Chairman Ivica Dacic said that it is very important that this Bill will be on the agenda of the National Assembly session, because it will enable the improvement of the financial position of working mothers, as well as agriculturally insured women, in the period after birth. He welcomed the proposed amendments that introduce the possibility for beneficiaries of salary compensation during absence from work for special child care and other special child care based benefits, to use the right to allowance for assistance and care of another person. He went on to point out that what is also very important is the fact that these amendments introduce a lower limit on salary compensations i.e. minimum wage levels of salary compensations during maternity leave, and that in the procedure to exercise these rights, the rights to parental and child care allowance would be specified.
The committee unanimously adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Financial Support to Families with Children.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Ivica Dacic and and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Radovan Tvrdisic, Jelena Mijatovic, Jelena Obradovic, Vesna Stambolic, Natasa Ivanovic, Milija Miletic, Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic, Milijana Sakic, Rajka Matovic, Dr Vesna Ivkovic, Haji Milorad Stosic and Branimir Jovanovic.
