Gojkovic Meets with PACE Co-Rapporteurs
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with Samad Seyidov and Maria Guzenina, co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Monitoring Committee, currently visiting Serbia.
The National Assembly Speaker also said that the opening of chapters 23 and 24 is a guarantee that Serbia will in the coming period meet the high standards as regards the rule of law and human rights protection.
Gojkovic said that Serbia is dedicated to the implementation of the Strategy of judiciary reform and the Action Plan with the aim of strengthening the independence, professionalism, accountability and efficiency of the judiciary and continuing the fight against corruption, and reminded the co-rapporteurs that the National Assembly had passed a set of laws concerning the judiciary and the media.
The co-rapporteurs stressed that the visit gives them an opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into Serbia’s progress in the spheres of interest to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and that they will brief the PACE members about it in their report.
