Gojkovic thanked UNDP for its support of Serbia’s development, adding that the state is interested in continuing that cooperation and pursuing projects of interest for the country’s overall development, especially as regards poverty reduction, social inclusion, gender equality and the rule of law.

Gojkovic pointed out that the National Assembly has long cooperated with UN agencies on various projects expressing her pleasure at the onset of stage two of project “Strengthening the Oversight Role, Transparency and Efficiency of the National Assembly”, which is to be realised by 2019.

The National Assembly Speaker also thanked UNDP for its help in the recovery after the catastrophic floods that struck Serbia in May 2014.

Sultanoğlu underlined the significance of the partnership between UNDP and the National Assembly because the parliament is an important partner in the achievement of the common goals of rule of law, good governance and development of democracy, as well as sustainable development.
