Gojkovic in Ankara with Presidents of International Parliamentary Assemblies

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Maja Gojkovic is visiting Ankara as the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, along with representatives of the European Parliament and the parliamentary assemblies of the Council of Europe, NATO, the Mediterranean, Union for the Mediterranean, Turkophone states and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, in order to learn more about the situation in Turkey after the attempted coup.


The presidents of parliamentary assemblies met with the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Ismail Kahraman, at whose invitation they came to Ankara, as well as Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, and are also planned to meet with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Gojkovic applauded the Turkish Parliament’s initiative to organise this gathering to facilitate the exchange of experiences and better understanding of the recent attempted coup in Turkey, and reminded that the International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation had condemned the attempted coup levelled against democracy, in which numerous innocent people lost their lives.

Gojkovic said that she is sure that the Turkish people and state will overcome the existing problems and continue to live in peace and democracy, because it is if vital importance both for Turkey and the entire region.
