On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, declared by the United Nations in 1982 in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Speaker stated:

“Compassion and understanding for persons with disabilities is an individual virtue and principle that every developed society is based on. NARS commemorated this date and chose 2 December 2010 to organise a public hearing that gave voice to numerous views and facts important for the improvement of the rights and potential of persons with disabilities. They make up 10% of the population of Serbia. By opposing prejudice and marginalisation we contribute to the development of our society in the most humane and the only right way. That is the most adequate way to improve every individual’s rights and potential to be useful”.
