A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, headed by the Assembly Speaker, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, made an official visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, on 18 February 2009, at the invitation of Parliament Speaker Abdel Aziz Ziari. The Assembly Speaker also met Prime Minister Ouyahia, and laid wreaths on the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and the World War One Serbian Military Cemetery.

The National Assembly Speaker deemed the visit to Algeria very successful. It the talks, they acknowledged the traditionally good relations between the two friendly countries, as well as the need to strengthen and deepen their parliamentary cooperation, which might also help further the two countries’ economic cooperation.

During the visit to Algeria, an Algeria-Serbia friendship group was formed at the Parliament and both sides agreed to continue the communication of the committees of both parliaments.
