Official Presentation of Parliamentary Group for Open Parliament at National Assembly
Today, the National Assembly hosted the official presentation of the Parliamentary Group for Open Parliament gathering the ruling majority and opposition MPs with the purpose of opening up the National Assembly to the public and promoting its representative function with a view of improving the quality of its communication with the citizens.
“We would like to make the work of the Parliament, its MPs and the Support Service more transparent, better, to work toward preventing corruption, conflict of interest and making the Parliament, as the Constitution and the laws say, one of the crucial pillars of development of the Republic of Serbia”, said the Chair of the Group and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic.
He announced the Week of Parliamentarism in October which the National Assembly is to realise in cooperation with its partners from the civil sector and international organisations, sure that the National Assembly meets all the preconditions to, with their support, realise its four functions to the benefit of the Serbian citizens.
In addition to Deputy Speaker Marinkovic, representatives of the partner organisations also spoke at the presentation – Vukosava Crnjanski, Director of CRTA and representative of the initiative Open Parliament, and Jan Lueneburg, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia’s Democratisation Department.
