Sixth Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee

At a sitting held on 25 November 2022, the members of the Environmental Protection Committee discussed the exploitation of lithium on the territory of the Republic of Serbia with a focus on the environmental impact and overall economic development of the Republic of Serbia.

Deputy Chairman Milimir Vujadinovic informed the Committee that the sitting was convened at the request of nine Committee members, in line with Article 71, paragraph 3 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

As the sitting was attended by 10 of 17 Committee members, the Committee had a decision-making quorum.

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic, as well as the Mayor of Loznica Vidoje Petrovic and representatives of the professional public Prof. Dr Dinko Knezevic and Prof. Dr Nikola Lilic from the Faculty of Mining and Geology, University of Belgrade, took part in the sitting.

Following a lengthy discussion, the Committee members unanimously reached the following Conclusion: The Committee had received the information and familiarised itself with the issue at hand by representatives of the professional public and two ministries (Ministry of Mining and Energy and Ministry of Environmental Protection); The Committee has been informed within its competences; In the course of the discussion, the MPs asked questions of the experts and presented their observations; The Committee will make the stenographic notes and minutes of the sitting available to the MPs, the National Assembly and the public for detailed familiarisation with this topic.

The sitting was chaired by Deputy Chairman Milimir Vujadinovic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Marjan Risticevic, Darko Jovanovic, Marko Mladenovic, Dusan Radojevic, Natasa Bogunovic, Jasmin Hodzic, Milan Glusac, Dalibor Scekic and Dusan Maric. The sitting was also attended by MP Dragana Lukic, who is not member of the Committee.
