Telephone Conversation between Ivica Dacic and David McAllister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had a telephone conversation today with the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister.

McAllister congratulated Ivica Dacic on his election as the National Assembly Speaker and expressed his belief that he would use his rich political experience to improve the work of the National Assembly.

Both officials endorsed the continuation of the inter-party dialogue in the National Assembly in accordance with the agreement reached in the exchange of letters between the National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic and David McAllister, on behalf of the European Parliament, in September 2019.

David McAllister emphasized the importance that the European Union attaches to the continuation of the inter-party dialogue and welcomed the readiness to continue it soon.

Talks on this topic will continue after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays,

The National Assembly Speaker informed Mr McAllister that th Nationl Assembly would have a session on the European Commission's Progress Report on the Republic of Serbia for 2020 next week. This will be the first time that the Progress Report is discussed at a plenary session. McAllister praised this initiative.
