    Fifth Meeting of South-East Europe Cooperation Process Parliamentary Dimension Working Group

    On 2 and 3 April 2012, the National Assembly House played host to the Fifth Meeting of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process Parliamentary Dimension Working Group (SEECP PD). Since Serbia presides over the process in the period from June 2011 to June 2012, this, fifth Working Group meeting, was held in Belgrade.

    SEECP Parliamentary Dimension Working Group Holds Fourth Meeting

    The Working Group of the South East Europe Cooperation Process Parliamentary Dimension (SEECP PD) held its fourth meeting on 20 and 21 December 2011 at the National Assembly House. As Serbia is presiding over the Process from June 2011 to June 2012 this, second meeting to be held in Belgrade, was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Working Group member Gordana Comic, while parliamentarians and national coordinators from Bulgaria, Turkey, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Macedonia and Slovenia, as well as representatives of the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Cooperation in South East Europe and Friedrich Ebert Foundation took part in the meeting.

    European Commission Delegation Visits National Assembly

    A delegation of the European Commission headed by Stefano Sannino, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate for Enlargement and comprising Lars Erik Forsberg from the Enlargement Directorate’s Unit for Serbia, Jana Sindelkova Lolic, Deputy Chief of Staff of EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule and Thomas Gnocchi Head of the Political Section of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, talked with Nada Kolundzija, head of the Parliamentary Group For European Serbia and Natasa Vuckovic, member of the European Integrations Committee, at the National Assembly House.

    Forty-First Sitting of the European Integrations Committee

    Following the public hearing on the challenges of forced migrations in Serbia organised by the European Integrations Committee on 18 May, at its sitting on 19 May the Committee formulated the text of the Proposal of the Conclusion regarding the problem of endangered visa-free regime proposed by Committee member Ivan Andric, on the behalf of the Liberal-Democratic Party Parliamentary Group.

    A public hearing on Challenges of Forced Migrations in Serbia was held on 18 May at the National Assembly House. The gathering was organised by the European Integrations Committee in cooperation with the non-governmental organisation Group 484 and included representatives of the Ministries of Interior and Labour and Social Policy, non-governmental organisations and civic associations.

    Seminar Held on Rule of Law and Strengthening Democracy in South-Eastern European Countries

    In cooperation with the Italian Institute IPALMO (Institute for the Relations between Italy and the Countries of Africa, Latin America, Middle and Far East) and the Italian Embassy in Serbia, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia organised a seminar for the deputies and employees on 14 April at the National Assembly House, on the “Rule of law and strengthening democracy in South-Eastern Europe”.

    Thirty-Eighth Sitting of the European Integrations Committee

    At the sitting held on 31 March, the European Integrations Committee considered, in principle, the Bills included into the agenda for the Third Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2011.Representatives of the Ministry of Justice briefed the Committee members on the innovations contained in the Bills on Advocacy, Public Notaries, Enforcement and Security and amending and modifying the Law on Enforcement of Penal Sanctions.

    Thirty-Sixth Sitting of the European Integrations Committee

    At the sitting held on 18 February, the European Integrations Committee considered the Report on the implementation of the amended and modified National Programme for the Integration of the Republic of Serbia into the European Union (NPI), for period October-December 2010. The Report was presented by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Integration Bozidar Djelic who declared it very important to complete the implementation of the Government’s Action Plan to speed up the EU candidacy acquisition process by the end of June so as to ensure the European Commission’s positive opinion which should be presented to Serbia by the EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule on 12 October.
