Gender Equality Committee marks Human Rights Day
Members of the Gender Equality Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia met representatives of local gender equality offices and exchanged ideas on issues facing gender equality in Serbia and possible ways of resolving them.

4 March – 4 December 2004Assembly ActivitiesActs and other items of legislation adopted• The National Assembly adopted the Resolution on Kosovo and Metohia by a two-thirds majority on 26 March, followed by the Plan for a Political Solution to the Situation in Kosovo and Metohia, drafted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and adopted on 29 April;• The Decision on Initiating Procedure for the Adoption of the New Constitution of Serbia was passed on 30 March;• The Act Modifying the Act on the Election of the President of the Republic of Serbia was passed on 25 February;• The Recommendation on the Use of the Coat-of-arms, Flag and Anthem of the Republic of Serbia was passed unanimously on 17 August.

Committees come together against violence towards women
The Poverty Reduction Committee, the Committee on Labour, Ex-servicemen’s and Social Issues, and the Gender Equality Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia are joining events to mark 25 December, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Student work placement programme to be organised for third time
The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, the head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, HE Maurizio Massari, and the vice-dean of the Faculty of Business Law, Professor Dr Nebojsa Sarkic, today signed a Memorandum on Understanding on the Student Work Placement Programme at the National Assembly, marking the start of the Programme in the academic year 2004-05.The Programme aims to provide an opportunity for young professionals to practically apply the knowledge acquired through studies in assisting deputies, committee members and other employees of the National Assembly, as well as to become acquainted with the activities of one of the most significant institutions of any democratic system of government.
